I screwed up my original character and am making another. Just wondering if my first is salvageable at all. Need your thoughts. Willing to respec in to anything.
High Elf/NB.

you can respec anything in this game, at the first floor in Elden Root you will fine shrines where you can respect attribute points and skill points, so yes your character is salvable and the other point is what are you wanting to do? what are you comfortable using? what is your play style? are points to consider when respecing

I know. I'm just wondering what the best build is for this character. Im most comfortable using bows and two handed.

There's not exactly a 'best' build for nightblades, or any class for that matter. I'd suggest hopping into guild chat and talking with some of the higher level nightblades about how they play and figuring out what might work for you from there.

I would also suggest what Life suggested. Jump into chat and see who all is specced for NB builds and maybe pair off into a group while you respec so you can talk with them about stuff as you're going through re-allocating your skill points. I know there's quite a few NBs in the guild who run with bows. So that shouldn't be an issue finding someone to talk to about bow specs. As far as two handed goes I'm not really sure. That would be an interesting second weapon choice for a nightblade, but you could probably make it work.
When I did my respec I took photos with my phone of each skill line I had points in so I could reference back to it and avoid placing points in areas I didn't need anymore. An example would be the research time passives for armor and crafting professions. If you finish researching all traits for balcksmithing, for example, you wouldn't need the 3 skill points in the passive that reduces smithing research times anymore. A few strategic choices like that and you'll get back a nice chunk of your skill points to save or spend else where.
I personally like to have a small pool of skill points available to me in case I need a new skill for a particular dungeon boss or something like that. I usually have anywhere between 15-30 skill points saved up specifically for those kind of moments.

....just a quick thought here, but what's the point of the forums if we just tell people to hop in guild chat? Although yes, it's a great suggestion and I second...well, third, the idea, I'd like if we could be more constructive in-thread. Benny isn't like some of us who have tons of free time to be sitting in game figuring out our builds. He is probably at work aching to play ESO and the closest thing to that currently are our forums. Let me know if I'm wrong here. That aside, you have a very specific character build in mind that doesn't stand out to me as "common". This kind of build resembles more of a Templar class more so than a nightblade. If I had time to dig through the web, I'm sure I could find you something a little more specific, but here is this: www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/2015/04/27/battlemasters-corner--the-aedric-wardenGive that a read for a basis of what to use, and replace any of the Templar specific abilities with nightblade specific ones instead. I don't know how nightblade operate or I could be more use to you in the matter, but this should be a good start and allow you to adjust accordingly =P Sent from Tapatalk using my MIND!

I still would say guild chat is the best option. We can sit here for days posting our personal builds and/or link to online builds, but the problem is that doesn't tell Benny anything really about playing them or if they'll work for him. By hopping into guild chat and getting with a group of the NB bros, we can tell him how we build and play our NB's and act as a soundboard for him to bounce his own personal ideas off of so he can get his build going and actually know it'll work for him. All this will be done much quicker than it could be done on the forums too. As reply times and forum activity vary wildly, he might see it drawn out into a week long process of figuring things out compared to maybe an hour in game at the most having an enjoyable and enlightening discussion over the ins and outs of various ways to build your NB.

Let's also remember Del, there's only like 15 people signed up and using these forums as well. Right now guild chat has the most abundance of knowledge. I know at least 5 or 6 active forum users are NOT night blades so they aren't going to be able to help. Talking to someone via headset is much quicker and people can ask questions and receive answers faster. The forums are a great place to start looking for answers, but until these forums are filled with character builds he doesn't have much info to go off of.

I don't think anyone would disagree that chat can be effective and dynamic. I learn tons there, when the discussion doesn't get interrupted. But let's also take what we are learning there and put it in here so that others can see it and read it. I may miss out on a great conversation about a particular skill or build while I'm at work, but if we encourage people to post here also that builds the community knowledge rather than just those online at a particular moment. Eventually this becomes a starting point for us to send a new member with questions about all the things the forums include, not just builds.
Rhiino sent me his build in a draft yesterday so that we could discuss it in chat later. Having it written out gives me a baseline to start our discussion. Plus it gave me something to mull over while I was away from the game. A lot of the build I understood, so I could focus the chat discussion on the things I wanted I know more about.
The biggest thing I see is that if we actively discourage people from looking here the forums won't ever really grow.

As far as builds go, I'm going strictly off of what Del has told me, "I'm not uploading any character builds until we hit VR16."
That's what I have been told multiple times. Now, if this strategy is changing please let me know. I completely agree that using the forums to give people a base to work off of is a great idea. I don't feel it's very fair to criticize those of us actually TRYING to post here and help out just because we aren't Nightblade builds. Would you rather have NOBODY respond to Benny simply because they aren't a NB? So I shouldn't even say anything? That makes zero sense, I'm going to address the question to the best of my abilities. I don't know much about Nightblades and luckily people like Vundahcarr are active on the forums. But if he wasn't able to help out with the build we would still be at square one as far as helping Benny because there's no one with that build on the forums.
So in reality shouldn't we be getting in chat and telling everyone to go post their builds on the forum then? That's the only way we're going to have helpful information on the forums for topics like this.
Until everyone starts contributing to the builds section all we CAN do is refer them to other Nightblades in the guild or send them links to pages like Deltia builds. It's not fair that we're trying to be helpful with the best of our own knowledge, only to have suggestions thrown back in our faces and basically told "that's not helpful for the forums." I advocate you guys to start posting your personal builds then, because it seems like that's the real issue here. So maybe everyone should start writing down their own build information and post it. If you want something more constructive then I don't think we are the people that need to be told that. The more NBs that are active on the forums the more help they would be able to give for questions specifically regarding that class.

shots fired! I think people posting their personal builds would be a good starter for the newer crowd because it gives them a good basis to start their character from even though I think winging it and going with the flow is the best way to learn that way you get a feel and experience of everything but it also provides insight on "heres what worked for me" "this would help here" kinda thing. I don't think we are saying "this build is the Ultimate Grande Burrito with Extra cheese" build but its just what we are using. that is why I put "soon to come" next to my topic for Stam NB Bow/2H because I'm still leveling, still getting the feel, but after seeing Benny's post about asking for insight kinda gave me some motivation. that and I'm at work and nothing else to do except sit on the guild forum and chat lol

No no, you're fine and I agree with what you and Del are saying, but the people here on the boards are not the ones who we need to be worried about. If we want more people to post on the forums then we have to have more people from chat getting on and posting. I just feel like Life and I were only making suggestions based off of what has helped others in the past. The forums are a great place to start work shopping a character build, but it would seem that there aren't enough different types of builds active on the forums to give enough information. So the people who ARE active are trying to help the best they can. I'm not mad or anything, just irritated because those of us active on the forums aren't the ones who need to be told this stuff.
